EFK
Essener Fragebogen zur Krankheitsverarbeitung
Short abstract
The EFK is a brief cross-disease screening measure and captures the disease processing behavior of visually impaired patients. Using 45 items, the EFK measures the following nine coping domains at the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral levels: (1) Action-oriented, problem-focused coping, (2) Distance and self-construction, (3) Information-seeking and experience-sharing, (4) Trivialization, wishful thinking, and threat defense, (5) Depressive processing, (6) Willingness to accept help, (7) Active search for social inclusion, (8) Trust in medical art, (9) Working out an inner support. Reliability: Internal consistency for all patients ranged from alpha = .65 (trust in medical art scale) to alpha = .80 (acting problem-oriented coping and trust in medical art scales). Validity: a factor analytic examination (varimax rotation) revealed a 12-factor structure. Correlations (according to Pearson) were calculated with the Freiburg Questionnaire on Illness Processing (FKV-LIS) and the Social Support Questionnaire (F-SOZU).
