SEU/3
Skalensystem zur Erfassung des Umweltbewusstseins - Dritte, überarbeitete Version (1999)
Short abstract
SEU/3 measures environmentally relevant attitudes, behavioural readiness and behavioural habits. In addition, seven important areas of environmental awareness (energy saving in the household, environmentally friendly transport, sport and leisure, environmentally conscious shopping, social commitment, waste separation and recycling, water saving and water pollution control) can be assessed without confusing them with the theoretical concepts (E: attitude, SV: self-reported behaviour, VB: behavioural readiness). The environmental total (global scale) includes all 84 items of the content scales or the scales E, SV and VB. Four short scales are also available. Reliability: Cronbach's alpha was estimated (alpha = .62-.94) and the retest reliability after an average of 5 1/2 weeks (rtt = .70-.90). Validity: For all scales, significant mean differences between the subsamples of the general population (VS) and the members of different environmental protection groups could be verified. The members of the self-assessment sample were each assessed by three related persons with regard to all items, whereby the agreement of the assessors varied between r = .10-.88 for the 84 items (average: r = .55). The SEU scales also showed little or no correlation with scales distant from the construct (r < = .28). There were medium to high significant correlations with near-construction scales.
