EV-20
Fragebogen Eigenverantwortung
Short abstract
The EV-20 measures a person's general willingness and tendency to take responsibility and act responsibly. It consists of 20 items, of which only 18 are evaluated. Reliability: For the 18-item scale, internal consistencies of alpha = .75 and alpha = .67 were found in two studies. Validity: The factorial validity of the questionnaire could be verified repeatedly by means of a main component analysis. The construct validity could also be demonstrated in a laboratory experiment. The scale for measuring personal responsibility correlated positively with the target commitment for a new, difficult task if the person had previously negotiated a binding target with a superior. In addition, moderate positive correlations with several personality dimensions of the Big Five became apparent: conscientiousness and openness to experience explain between 23 % and 25 % of the EV-20's variance. In addition, the correlation with social responsibility is positive as expected. However, the common variance is only 12%, so that it is justified to see personal responsibility as an independent psychological construct. An important difference between personal responsibility and social responsibility is that only the latter has a high correlation with the Big Five's tolerability dimension, while only the former has a significant correlation with openness to experience.
