NOSGER II
Nurses' Observation Scale for Geriatric Patients
Short abstract
NOSGER II is intended for screening outpatients and inpatients with suspected age-related dementia. Instruments that are geared towards pathological characteristics are to be supplemented by observations from everyday life. The 30 items of NOSGER II are distributed in the following dimensions with 5 items each: (1) Memory, (2) Instrumental Activities of Daily Life (IADL), (3) Personal Hygiene (Activities of Daily Life, ADL), (4) Mood, (5) Social behaviour, (6) Disruptive behaviour. 32 persons were assessed by two different counsellors, with the result that there was agreement (rank correlation) for the individual dimensions between r = .53 (disruptive behaviour) and r = .80 (IADL). Reliability: The retest reliability after one month in 30 persons was between rtt = .75 (mood) and rtt = .93 (IADL). Validity: A comprehensive validation of NOSGER II with external criteria (correlations with various external assessment scales, self-assessment procedures, memory and performance tests) was carried out, and numerous indications of validity were found.
