LGS
Lebensglückskala
Short abstract
The LGS is a German-language method for assessing happiness in life. Taking into account a bitemporal perspective (past and present happiness), both affective and cognitive components of well-being are considered. The questionnaire has a total of nine items which are assigned to the two subscales (1) Past Happiness (six items) and (2) Present Happiness (three items). Reliability: Reliability in the form of internal consistencies (Cronbach's alpha) and regression instabilities (three and a half years) amounted to alpha = .91 or rtt = .49 for the entire questionnaire, alpha = .88 or rtt = .55 for the subscale past happiness and alpha = .90 for the subscale present happiness. Validity: The construct validity in the form of convergent and predictive validity was checked. The results of the factor analysis and the correlations to physical/psychological well-being, target progress and degree of target achievement were in line with expectations.
