PANAS-C-P
Parent Version of the Positive and Negative Affect Scale for Children - deutsche Fassung
Short abstract
The PANAS-C-P is a German version of the English PANAS-C (Laurent et al., 1999). The parental version uses two scales and 27 items to measure positive affect (PA; 12 items) and negative affect (NA; 15 items) of children as trait variables. Reliability: The internal consistency according to Cronbach was Alpha = .83 for the 10 item solution (positive affect) and Alpha = .88 for the 14 item solution (negative affect). Validity: A factor analysis was used to prove two factors. For the 27-item solution, the explanation of variance was 43 %. For the 24-item solution, the elucidation of variance was 47 %. Criterion validity. Pearson correlation calculations showed for a sample of n = 119 a correlation of the NA scale with the CBCL scales (Remschmidt & Walter, 1990) externalizing behaviors (r = .51) and internalizing behaviors (r = .64), with the JTCI scales (Goth & Schmeck, 2009) curiosity behavior (r = .37), damage avoidance (r = .40) and temperament dimension "persistence". (r = -.24) and with the RPA 5-10 "Reactive aggressive behaviour". (Beckers & Petermann, 2011; r = .24). For the PA scale, the correlation calculations showed a negative correlation with internalizing behaviors (CBCL: r = -.64) as well as with the temperamental dimension (JTCI) "damage avoidance". (r = -.36) and a positive correlation with "reward dependency" (r = .38) and "persistence" (r = .38).
