BIFA-AL
Biographischer Fragebogen für Alkoholabhängige
Short abstract
The BIFA-AL primarily is used for the differential psychological assessment of biographical data of alcohol addicts on the basis of research results on the etiological and causal development of the full symptoms of addiction "alcoholism". (according to the WHO operational definition, 1952) and its clinical classification. The total of 38 items are assigned to three interval scales: (1) neuroticism (15 items), (2) unfavourable vs. favourable primary socialisation (12 items) and (3) targeting (11 items). Reliability: The reliability of the scales was measured by Cronbach's alpha (.86-.90), Spearman-Brown coefficients (rtt = .85-.88) and the test retreability after 4 weeks (rtt = .75-.92). Validity: A confirmatory factor analysis of the individual scales confirmed that the scales show construct validity only for the sample of alcoholics ("goodness-of-fit" coefficients above .9 for alcoholics versus values below .9 for other samples). Further evidence of validity is provided by correlation analyses with six personality questionnaires or test batteries (Giessen test, multidimensional personality test, performance motivation test, biographical inventory for the diagnosis of behavioural disorders, Eysenck personality inventory, property word list). Standards: T-values, percentile values and verbal categorisations are available for the calibration sample of 772 alcohol addicts.
