ODQ
Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire - deutsche Fassung
Short abstract
The ODQ, which is translated into German, measures the experience of back pain and the limitations in the professional, private and social daily life of a patient. It is divided into 11 sections, each of which deals with one aspect of pain: (1) Duration of pain, (2) Extent of pain/pain intensity, (3) Personal care, (4) Lifting and carrying, (5) Walking, (6) Sitting, (7) Standing, (8) Sleeping, (9) Sexuality, (10) Social contacts, participation in social life and (11) Travel. The first section "Duration of pain" is not included in the item evaluation, however, but should only be given for back and leg pain, for how many years, months and weeks the patient has been suffering from it. Thus, the ODQ consists of 10 items with six statements each. The statements are sorted in ascending order of the influence of pain on this area. Reliability: A Cronbach's Alpha = .94 was calculated as internal consistency for the overall questionnaire. Validity: The results of a very similar translation of the Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire by Osthus et al. (2006) speak for the construct validity, change sensitivity and reliability of the measure despite the slight differences due to translation.
