IVS
Interpersonelle Vertrauensskala
Short abstract
The ITS measures specific interpersonal trust. Trust is an important resource in interpersonal relationships. The ITS consists of 19 items that refer to the two subscales "reliability" and "trust" (9 items) and "trustworthiness" (10 Items). Reliability: Cronbach's Alpha was Alpha = .85-.90 and the Retestreliability rtt = .58-.68 (1-week interval). Validity: The two-factor structure could be confirmed several times. A systematic manipulation of the reliability of the target had a primary effect on the reliability scale, while a manipulation of the trustworthiness had a primary effect on the trustworthiness scale. This indicates differential validity; at the same time, these findings support the validity of a two-dimensional approach with two correlated trust facets. For the overall scale, it could be shown that it prospectively explains 10 percent of the search for social support in an exam situation: candidates who expressed more interpersonal trust in their examiner 8 to 9 weeks in advance sought more social support during the exam. On the other hand, candidates who expressed little trust in the examiner used more aggressive antisocial strategies in the exam. Specific and generalized trust are largely independent of each other (zero correlations).
