GESWIS-GS
Aufgaben zur Erfassung von Geschichtswissen im Grundschulalter
Short abstract
The item list for the historical knowledge of the GESWIS-GS test instrument is intended to cover elementary aspects of the historical knowledge of primary school children that relate to the temporal order and reality content of historical information. The item list consists of 22 relevant statements which are to be assessed with regard to their correctness. These have been used and tested in three independent samples of grades 2, 3 and 4. Reliability: The internal consistencies for the task list in Class 2 were KR-20 = .82, in Class 3 KR-20 = .81 and in Class 4 KR-20 = .81 (Kuder-Richardson). Validity: The tasks can be regarded as content valid in detail. In addition, there are substantial correlations with the students' interest in history, their general cognitive abilities, their reading skills and their gender for all the class levels examined. A main component analysis revealed a clear, simple single-factor pattern.
